Electric Daisy Carnival: Welcome to the rave culture?

The digital age has taken America's youth by storm. The Electric Daisy Carnival is a two-day all ages festival catering to the underground rave scene with childhood-like appeal.

Since 1996, EDC has grown increasingly in popularity. Every year, thousands flock to the Coliseum to let it all hang out in a rave scene environment and to hear the latest in electronic music.

Visual stimulation is saught by those under the influence. Men with lights in their gloves become Shamans on the dance floor, entertaining lines of people for hours to come.

Many people with different styles danced together, some stood out more than others.

Four stages and 16-hours of music brought fans to pay a minimum of $60 a ticket.

Most people came after the sun went down, when things really came alive.

Private light shows sprang up in pockets throughout the dense crowd.

High-tech visualization stations operated by computer reared the face of modern technology.
Pits of people laid motionless under the structure, while most glanced at it walking by.

EDC 2009 maxed out the weekend with an estimated 90,000 in attendance.

*I wouldn't have known this event existed had it not been for my neighbor Dave informing me that he was going. He persuaded me to get a ticket, so I did. Held in the heart of Los Angeles, this thing turned out to be another ' I'll try anything once' type deal. Going in I didn't think I could leave with anything close to a story, but I wish I would have been covering and writing it.
