(From left) Dr. Ingrid Mattson, president of the Islamic Society of North America, Rabbie Peter Knobel, president of the Central Conference of American Rabbis and Katharine Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church, shake hands after exchanging thoughts near the end of the Tri-Faith Initiative at the Qwest Center in Omaha. The event, which is the first of its kind and brought nearly 1,100 people from around the globe, was devoted to ideas of peace, desegregation and religious tolerance along with the future of faith in America.

Going by the name of Brittany for the purposes of the photo, a local 28-year-old exotic dancer has paid for college and the first year of law school by working two days a week at The Night Before Lounge in downtown Lincoln, Neb. She's been working there for 8 years and makes close to $50,000 annually.

An energetic and packed crowd filled the room before dinner at the American Heart Association's annual Lincoln Heart Ball at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel. The evening was filled with cocktails, dancing and dinner, with all proceeds from the silent auction directly benefiting the American Heart Association.

Husker football head coach Bo Pelini argues with a referee over the personal foul call made on a husker defensive lineman in the fourth quarter Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. Later in the fourth quarter, Pelini received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for using foul language to criticize the referee's calls, giving the Hokies 15 yards, which resulted in another touchdown.

313th Medical Company 2nd Iraq deployment, a farewell ceremony

*Great assignment but hard to shoot. Ran into a friend whose sister is leaving. I nearly cried along with the families, such a chilling, sad concept, leaving for war.

Walk for Down's Syndrome

*Had a decent shoot at this for the LJS, but made an epic fail in legibly writing down caption information. Two of these photos ended up having wrong names, we had to print a correction the next day. A BIG DEAL in newspapers. I learned from it though.

Good v. Evil (In California)

* In the backyard of the house I stayed at in Costa Mesa this summer. Played with the tripod one night, and decided to experiment/learn more about the flash.

This is one photo (no Photoshop or manipulation), with one flash firing once at the beginning of the shutter and once at the end. It took me 30 tries to get something compositionally I liked. The contrast in emotion is a bit of luck, and funny I think.
